Why is it important to be righteous when it involves your divine purpose? We know why it’s important for our everyday life, but when it comes to doing what God called us to do, why must we be righteous and how do they align? Well, let’s find out!
A couple weeks ago, I wrote a blog about why is righteousness important. I want to elaborate on that but when involves our calling and who God created us to be! So, without further delay, let’s get into it!
Put On The New Man According to God
Ephesians 4:24 says, “And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Righteousness and being transformed into God’s image go hand in hand. This “new man created according to God” is the person God wants you to be and the person you need to be to fulfill your God-given purpose. God wouldn’t call us to be new or put on the new man created according to Him if it wasn’t necessary for our purpose. But why is putting on this “new man” important? Because this “new man” is filled with the Holy Spirit, righteous through Christ, and doesn’t allow the world or his flesh to sway him out of his purpose. Righteousness keeps the fire for God burning, sets us apart, and constantly requires us to rely on Jesus because we cannot be righteous on our own. Righteousness, as I defined in What is Righteousness, is living according to the Holy Spirit. Living according to the Holy Spirit is the number one thing regarding divine purpose because it allows God to direct our paths, give us insight, wisdom, and knowledge, and protect us through our journey. If you don’t live according to the Holy Spirit, you will face confusion, depression, and stagnation. So, that is why being righteous is essential because it will lead you down the path that God wants for you! Remember, if you want to live according to God, being righteous is required, so be prepared to make sacrifices and lose some friends, habits, and desires. You are becoming new, so old things will pass away, and with each old thing that passes away, you are closer to reaching your destiny.
Righteousness Grants God’s Favor
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” When you truly love God, you follow His commandments; this is mentioned in I John 5:2-3. Which says, “When we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” So, if you really want to evaluate how much you love God, take note of how much you follow His Word and His Spirit. This shows our genuine love for God and how obedient we are, and obedience is also what leads us to righteousness. Because obedience is listening to the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit will always lead you to follow God’s Word and commandments. Furthermore, the verse doesn’t say “and” those called according to His purpose; it flows, insinuating that those who love God are automatically called to a divine purpose. This would lead me to believe that you must be someone who is willing to follow God for this verse to apply to you. Things won’t always work out for your good if you are living a sinful life, disregarding the commandments of God. God’s favor is reserved for those who love Him, and favor is essential to accomplishing your divine purpose. With God’s favor, you will experience prosperity, promotion, protection, joy, and so much more, which is necessary for your purpose. So, remember that when you love God, you are obedient to the Holy Spirit, which will lead you to righteousness, and as a result, all things will work out for your good.
God Will Guide You
Joshua 1:8-9 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” I love this verse because it emphasizes that in order to have good success and prosperity, we must stay close to God and meditate on His Word. The only way to stay righteous is to stay close to God, meditate on His Word, and follow it! And this will lead you down the path God wants you to go. Through meditating on God’s Word, you will get insight about your purpose; God will speak to you on how the scripture, chapter, book, etc., connect to your divine purpose! God speaks to me every time I read His Word, guiding me according to it. Being guided by God will lead you to righteousness and your purpose! God wants to guide and show you the way because He knows the best way for you! You cannot achieve your divine purpose without meditating on God’s Word, so take your personal time with God seriously! God cannot guide you if 1. you don’t meditate on the Bible and 2. if you don’t obey! This is how you will have good success and prosperity, which is all essential to your purpose! So take the time to seek God’s guidance through His Word!
All Things Will Be Added To You
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” When you chase after righteousness, God will hold nothing from you! When you make God your priority, God makes you His priority! Which is such a bonus when it comes to your divine purpose! Because it means that you will have God’s favor, success, protection, provision, guidance, wisdom, joy, and so much more! More than just material things, all things will be added to you! This is one of the most important reasons why righteousness is necessary: it allows God to bless you in the way He wishes! And if we want to advance in this life and do what God has called us to do, we need His blessings. Make God number one, and you make God your number one by following His lead and obeying, thus leading you toward righteousness. Your purpose is tied to being righteous, following the Holy Spirit, and living a Spirit-filled life. And it’s not impossible because we have Jesus! Jesus makes it possible for us to chase after righteousness, to meditate on God’s Word, to love God by following His commandments, and to put on that new man! So, never say you can’t because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! You can be righteous, fulfill your divine purpose, and be who God created you to be, so I hope this helped, and God bless!
Next week, I will continue with this topic just in a different light, so stay tuned and be blessed!
