When it comes to faith, a lot of things can be tricky and I know personally that being patient and simply just waiting and trusting God can be difficult at times. We want things so fast and immediately but when it comes to faith, waiting is crucial so you don’t mess up what God has for you.
This past week, I tried getting a car and was honestly blinded by the fact that I wanted a car so bad that when God told me “wait” at the dealership, I ignored it and quickly paid the consequences. So, now I am carless and have to try again WITH God’s instruction and not just go by my flesh. I certainly learned my lesson which is why I am discussing this topic this week. You’ll get nothing in faith if you don’t learn to wait first. Now, I do want to say a disclaimer, yes there is a wait when it comes to faith but more so in the aspect of waiting for God’s instruction and simply being patient and not trying to do God’s work yourself. I do not mean waiting in the sense that you are waiting for years for the same thing, God moves fast if you just listen and utilize patience! I could’ve had the perfect car by now if I simply waited at God’s instruction, maybe I would’ve gotten the car a day later, but it would’ve been better than what I went through. So, that is what I mean by waiting in faith, not God promised you something and it’s 20 years later and you still don’t have it, that’s a fault on your part and you didn’t move when God told you. So, with that out the way, let’s dive in!
The Benefits of Patience

Good things come to those who wait, a very common phrase I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of times and it doesn’t change when you bring in the Bible. A verse that is essentially that phrase comes out of Lamentations 3:25, which reads, “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him”. The Lord is good to those who wait because the way I see it, those who wait on the Lord demonstrate trust in God. When you’re impatient it can be taken as “God you’re taking too long and I can do this myself”. That is a major mistake, thinking we can do it without God and expecting the same result. The result will never be the same, matter of fact, like in my case, the result will be terrible. So, that is why it is vital to just wait for God and who says you’ll be waiting long? God always arrives on time and He is quick to perform, so get rid of that pride and wait for God to do good by you. Additionally, when you are truly seeking God, it is easier to listen to instructions to wait. However, sometimes like in my case, we are so overwhelmed by our flesh that even when we do hear the voice of the Lord we ignore it. So seek Him and listen to Him and He will be good to you.
Faint Not! And Trust
I understand if you’ve been believing for something for a good minute, it can be natural to get impatient. Trust me I get it, I’ve been wanting my own car for years and am still eager to get one, but I have to know to listen to the voice of God and wait when instructed to. I know that in the end, it is going to pay off. Galatians 6:9 says “let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Certainly, after the situation I went through I wanted to give up! I didn’t want to step foot at a car dealership! But that’s not what God wanted, God told me I would have my own car, so it is my responsibility to trust God and believe that His word is going to come to pass. Yes, there is work that I have to put in but I have to have faith that despite my circumstances being different, God’s word is still going to come to pass. So don’t give up! That’s not the word of the Lord, He wants you to receive by faith so just be patient, fight the good fight of faith and win! God has plans for you if you don’t faint! I know it’s tempting but you don’t know how close you are, you could be right there ready to open the door to your blessing! You will get your blessing if you just don’t give up, that’s what the devil wants you to do so that you can lose faith in God and start to question Him. So anytime you hear a voice of defeat telling you to throw in the towel, rebuke it! That’s not God, God speaks victory each and every time!
“trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him. And He shall direct your paths”
Proverbs 3:5
How do you know if you are only moments away from your promise? Well when you get a direct understanding from God, it is easy to go to Him and ask about your next step. Proverbs 3:5 says, “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him. And He shall direct your paths”. It is easy to faint and give up if you’re leaning on your own understanding. However, if you are acknowledging God in all your ways, He will direct you on your next moves in faith! He will let you know exactly what you need to do to obtain your promise. And because you’re receiving instruction from God, you know it’s never acceptable to give up. Trusting in God is huge when it comes to faith and trust is what you need when God tells you to wait a little longer. He is making everything perfect and working everything out and I promise the wait isn’t long. Sometimes the wait is to test your obedience and I’m sure all of us have failed that test at least once and given into our flesh. But God is quick to forgive, so go back to Him and ask Him to direct all your paths!
Psalm 2:12 says “blessed are all those who put their trust in Him”. So trusting God doesn’t have to be scary as society has made it seem. Trusting God is exciting because you know that God will never let you down! God will always do right by you and knows what is best for you. So why trust your deceitful flesh instead of an all-knowing God? When you trust God you are guaranteed to be blessed because trust is faith and faith is what pleases God. So let’s calm down and put it all into God’s hands and trust that He is gonna do what He said He was going to do!
Wait till the End

All throughout the bible, it is said along the lines that if you wait you will be blessed. James 5:11 says “Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord – that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful”. No matter how bad your situation is, God is turning it around. We all know that Job had the worst 18 months of his life but after all the trials and tribulations, he ended up double blessed! All because he endured, he didn’t throw in the towel but waited and trusted God to turn the situation around. He proclaimed that his redeemer liveth, and that redeemer is Jesus who lives in us! The same redeemer Job spoke about lives in us! So you have the strength to endure whatever your situation is! God has plans for you and always has, you just have to be patient and look to God. Don’t look to people like Job’s wife who will tell you to curse God and die, but look to the one who gives you life. He is going to bless you more than you could ever imagine and you’re gonna be better off than you were before. Through your endurance, God is seeing how much you trust Him, how you’ve humbled yourself to wait, and because of that, He can trust you with more! For instance, Ecclesiastes 7:8 says, “The end of a thing is better that its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit”. Remember how I mentioned that not waiting is a form of pride because you believe you can get a God result without God? That’s exactly why waiting is so important to faith because faith causes you to humble yourself. To let go of everything you know and put everything in God’s hands, and God loves that and that is why He is quick to bless you when you’re walking by faith. There will be an end and as long as you humble yourself and let go of a proud spirit you’ll see that end a lot sooner. God loves a patient spirit, and oddly enough, a patient person will wait for less than an impatient proud person.
I hope you’ve learned more about being patient when walking by faith. It is important to learn this step, otherwise, you’ll be waiting forever. It is a test of obedience and an assessment of pride that you must pass to obtain your blessing! Hope this helped and God bless!
