When it comes to faith one of the most important things is to renew your mind. It’s impossible to walk by faith in the old mindset we had, we have to change our thoughts in order to align with God’s word. So, today let’s talk about changing and renewing your mind for stronger faith!

New Creation

As soon we’re saved, we are called to be different, and that doesn’t stop at giving up your sin but it continues with changing your mind which then changes you from the inside out. II Corinthians 5:17 says, “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away behold, all things have become new”. Once you accept Christ into your heart, it is now your responsibility to change. Everything in your spiritual life before receiving Jesus is now dead, and you have new life. What is new exactly? Well, your spirit, habits, thoughts, and your faith! You cannot grow in faith if you don’t make this first step of making everything new and turning from your old ways. So, when it comes to renewing your mind for stronger faith, the first step is to make the decision to make everything new and Christ-like in your life.

How am I Supposed to Think?

Romans 12:2 tells us to “not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” When changing your mindset for stronger faith, the most important thing to note from this verse is not being “conformed to this world”. This world is filled with fear, worry, doubt, sexual immorality, and many things that God doesn’t want us to be a part of. It’s because these things eat away from our faith, if we did things the way the world did, we would never receive from God because our faith would constantly be under attack and destruction. This is why we must renew our minds. You should be thinking in a way that isn’t conformed to this world, but rather to how God thinks. So, take everything this world has to offer and do the opposite, for fear, think faith and confidence, for worry, think peace, for doubt, think about trusting in God. That is how you stay conformed to God and not to the world.

Furthermore, Proverbs 3:5, says to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge the Lord”. When it comes to faith it is vital to stop thinking you’re the only one involved. As Christians, God should be involved in everything we do! So, based on this verse, for every choice you make, every decision, you should go to God about it! Don’t go about alone but trust God and His understanding and that He will make the best choice for you, simply because He knows what is best for you. You don’t know the full story but God does, that’s why it is crucial to include Him and go to Him for guidance on how to proceed. I know walking by faith can be tricky but why not make it easier by going to the Author of our faith and trusting Him to guide you? Don’t make the mistake of walking by faith without God, because the consequences and the results will be nothing you want!

Another way we need to start thinking when it comes to faith, is to think Word based! 1 John 2:14 says that “you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one”. When we are walking by faith when an obstacle comes, it can be easy to forget who we are and what the Bible says that gives us strength. You have to remember that you are God’s and God made us strong. Through His word, we are strong enough to overcome the devil and get whatever we want in faith! Don’t let the devil scare you into losing faith, fight back with the word of God which makes you strong. The devil is no match for what God says in His word, so use that weapon and obtain your promises through faith! You cannot think of defeat and that the devil’s got you when an obstacle comes, but you must remember and think about the power God gives you through His word. It is important to think in the context of the Bible, to not go by what you see or what the devil is trying to do but rather what the Bible says! This is how your faith is going to grow! I mentioned before that without the word of God, your faith is useless, so to renew your mind, your thoughts need to be scripture based. Every time you think about something that has to do with your faith journey you need to have a scripture in your mind to back it up! That way your faith will never fail!

Faith like Jesus

The best way to think about your faith journey and renew your mind to make your faith strong is in Galatians 2:20. This verse says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. The part I wish to focus on is “I live by the faith of the Son of God,” when you stop thinking about faith as in your faith but rather Jesus’ faith, there is nothing you can’t do. When you truly believe and realize that you have the same faith as Jesus, everything changes because there was nothing Jesus couldn’t do! He believed what He said and got what He said, He cast out demons, healed the sick, feed 5000+ people with five loaves of bread and two fish, calmed a sea, and so much more I could go on and on and on! You have that same faith that can move all the mountains in your life and more!

“Most assuredly, I say to you, He that believes in Me, the works I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My father.”

John 14:12 NKJV

Also, the most exciting part of it all is that in John 14:12 Jesus says “Most assuredly, I say to you, He that believes in Me, the works I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My father.” So Jesus just said we can do greater works than Him! So don’t be discouraged, don’t give up! Believe God and trust Him! Through Him you can do great things! Have faith in your faith because you have the same faith as Jesus and nothing was stopping Jesus so nothing can stop you! What I want you to take away from this post is that faith starts in the mind. You cannot excel in faith if you’re not focusing on God, trusting God, standing on the Word, and believing in the faith you have through Jesus! All of these things start with renewing our minds because we have to break some habits to be able to trust God 100%. We have to stop thinking self-dependence and think God dependence! We have to stop thinking about what people are saying or what the devil is doing and thinking about what God’s word says! Think like Jesus and utilize the faith He had because you have it in you! Nothing stands in the way of your faith but you! So start changing the way you think for stronger faith, I hope this helped and God bless!
